Our Story
Stage Ready Tan began in 2012, working behind the scenes at Body Power to support athletes with their show-day tanning. The experience developed into a dedicated service for competitors, built around reliability, precision, and an understanding of how vital flawless stage colour is.
In 2017, formal training was completed and certification was achieved as a fully qualified BABTAC Registered Spray Tanning Technician.

The name behind the colour
Maria began her journey in 2012, supporting athletes behind the scenes at Body Power as a runner for the tanning team. That early experience introduced her to the fast-paced world of competition preparation and sparked a long-term commitment to delivering stage-ready colour. In 2017, she completed formal training and became a fully qualified, BABTAC-registered spray tanning technician, refining the precise techniques needed to achieve consistent, high-definition results under demanding stage lighting.
Today, Maria provides a dedicated service for bodybuilders and physique athletes across the UK. Her approach is built on accuracy, professionalism, and a deep understanding of what competitors need on show day. With years of backstage experience and trusted partnerships with IBFA UK and NPA, she ensures every athlete steps on stage with confidence, definition, and a flawless tan that elevates their presentation.
Her expertise has also led to opportunities to work internationally, providing competition tans in locations such as Malta, Georgia, Romania, Italy, Iraq, Mumbai (India), and many others, alongside her extensive work throughout the UK.

Below you will find skin preparation tips so your tan will look flawless on stage.
Skin preparation instructions
- For maximum results, spend 7 to 10 days prior to your show exfoliating and moisturising your body.
- On the day of your spray tan, do not moisturise, exfoliate only.
Tanning sunbed information
- If you choose to use a sunbed for a base tan, do not burn.
- Peeling skin cannot be corrected and will not give a good finish once spray tanned.
For the very best results
- During show week, moisturise daily twice per day and exfoliate gently every day.
- On the day of your tanning appointment, shower using a non moisturising gel soap such as Sanex 0 percent. Exfoliate your entire body gently using nylon exfoliating gloves or a nylon mesh cloth. Pay extra attention to knees, elbows, hands, feet and heels. Avoid loofas, pads and sponges.
- Shave at least 8 hours before your tan, ideally the night before. All waxing should be completed 7 to 10 days prior. You cannot shave or shower after your colour is applied until after your competition.
- Do not apply make up, deodorant, perfume or cologne before or after your spray tan. They can react with the solution and cause a green tint. Men may apply clear polish to nails to avoid staining. A barrier cream will also be provided. Ladies can apply make up on show day.
- Arrive with clean, dry skin wearing dark, loose fitting clothing and flip flops. Avoid red fabrics as dye transfer may cause discolouration. Soft, oversized clothing is best. Avoid stiff fabrics, zips, buttons, jeans and leggings.
- Women will be sprayed nude. Please bring a hair tie if you have long hair; a cap will be provided.
- Men will be sprayed using provided socks for coverage. Men's Physique competitors may wear smaller garments if preferred.
- The session lasts about 30 minutes with an additional 10 to 20 minutes for drying. A light sticky feeling for around an hour is normal.
- After your colour is applied, sleep in loose, oversized clothing to avoid marks. Do not sleep nude. If staying in a hotel, bring your own sheets and pillowcases to avoid staining charges.
